Description
Kratz Eye Cannula with Collar Button
The Kratz collar button cannula is a fine irrigating cannula with a small button collar near its tip. At 0.6mm, it is slim enough for small ports. The collar gives you a soft ledge to engage tissue, while fluid keeps the eye formed.
Small size, firm purchase
A 0.6mm tip passes through a side port with little stretch. Even so, the collar gives enough grip to move an iris edge or a lens fragment. Therefore, it suits tight eyes where a larger tool would crowd the wound. Many cataract surgeons use it to manipulate the nucleus or iris during the case.
The listed option
There is one size on this page. Overall:
- Size: 0.6mm
- Collar button just behind the tip
- Irrigating bore with a syringe fitting
- Reusable stainless body
Kratz versus Graether
Both patterns use a collar button. However, this Kratz version comes in 0.6mm, while the Graether option measures 0.7mm and adds an angled form. So pick the Kratz collar button cannula when you want the smaller size. Choose the Graether when you need the 45° angle near the wound.
Using it in the chamber
Prime the flow and enter with the collar turned sideways. Then rotate it toward the tissue you want to move. Keep each push short and light. Also, check the endothelium stays clear of the tip during every move.
Reprocessing a collared tip
Rinse the bore with water as soon as you finish. Next, scrub around the collar with a soft brush and flush again. Dry it with air before it goes into a pouch. Because it leaves our shelf non-sterile, sterilize it before the first case; after that it is good for repeated use.
Kratz collar cannula order details
Cover on this cannula runs three years against manufacturing defects, covering hub, tube and collar. The stainless is chosen to meet ASTM F899. You can compare more cataract cannulas from Intrace. A larger alternative is the Graether collar button cannula. Our help center explains payment and returns.
