Description
Graether Collar Button Eye Cannula
The Graether collar button cannula ends in a small rounded collar just behind the tip. This collar lets you hook, push or hold tissue without a sharp edge. Fluid flows through the bore at the same time, so the chamber stays formed while you work.
What the collar does
A plain tube slides off tissue. By contrast, a collar gives the tip a small ledge that catches an iris margin or the edge of a lens. You can then pull or push with gentle force. Surgeons often use the Graether collar button to stretch a small pupil, to retract iris, or to rotate a nucleus. However, technique should follow your own training.
Straight or 45° angled
Both versions share a 0.7mm size. The straight form gives direct reach across the chamber, which suits work opposite the wound. On the other hand, the 45° angled form turns the tip toward tissue near the incision. Many users keep one of each. Options at a glance:
- Size: 0.7mm
- Configuration: straight
- Configuration: 45° angled
- Rounded collar with an irrigating bore
Gentle handling
Set a slow flow before you enter the eye. Then slide the collar under the iris edge and move with the fingers, not the arm. Keep force light, because the iris tears easily. Afterward, release the tissue before you withdraw the tip through the port.
Cleaning the collar and bore
Debris can lodge behind a collar, so give that area extra care. Flush the bore first, then brush around the button with a soft brush. Next, rinse and dry it with air. The cannula arrives non-sterile; once cleaned and steamed, it can return to the tray again and again.
Graether cannula cover and links
Both angles carry our pledge of three years against manufacturing defects, measured from dispatch. We specify stainless that follows ASTM F899.
