Description
Kratz Cystotome Cannula
The Kratz cystotome cannula has a small bent cutting tip on a 22 gauge irrigating shaft. It lets you start or complete a capsule opening while fluid keeps the chamber deep. So it is a classic tool for anterior capsulotomy.
The Kratz bend
The Kratz pattern turns the tip down so the point meets the capsule at a useful angle. You can then tear or nick the capsule in a controlled way. Since fluid runs through the shaft, the chamber holds its shape. That gives you a steady field for each step. In addition, the same tool can rinse away small tags once the opening is done.
Size and gauge choice
This listing offers 22 gauge. A 22 gauge tube is sturdy and moves a fair amount of fluid. If you need a slimmer shaft, a 25 or 27 gauge tool may suit you better. In summary:
- Size: 22 gauge
- Bent cutting point
- Irrigating shaft
- Fits a syringe or line
Capsulotomy technique
Enter with the tip turned to the side so it does not catch the wound. Then rotate it down toward the capsule. Make small, controlled moves, because the point is sharp. Afterward, rotate the tip sideways again as you withdraw.
Looking after the point
A blunted point tears rather than cuts, so protect it from knocks. Right after surgery, push water through the 22 gauge bore, then dab the bent point with a damp gauze. Rack it on its own so nothing rubs the tip. Our Kratz cutting cannula leaves the warehouse non-sterile; a steam cycle after each wash readies it for the next list.
Kratz cystotome warranty
Your Kratz cystotome comes with a warranty for three years against manufacturing defects; wear on the point from use is not a defect. The stainless conforms to ASTM F899.
