Description
Harrington Fiber Optic Retractor With Light Guide
The lighted Harrington retractor brings light deep into the abdomen or chest. A fiber optic guide runs along its heart-shaped blade.
Four configurations
Choose a 40 or 62 mm wide blade, each 127 mm long. Then decide whether to add a suction channel. That gives four combinations in total.
Why light the lighted Harrington retractor blade
Overhead lights often miss deep corners. Also, a guide on the blade shines straight into them. Consequently, the surgeon works with fewer shadows.
Adding suction
The suction version clears fluid at the blade tip. So a separate sucker is not always needed. Meanwhile, the plain lit version stays slimmer.
Typical use
Upper abdominal, liver and thoracic surgeons use it. It also helps in bariatric cases with deep fields. In addition, many teams choose the wider blade for liver work.
Connections
Hook up a light cable through a brand adaptor, then push theatre tubing onto the suction spigot. Test light and vacuum together before the first incision.
Lighted Harrington retractor options
- 40 or 62 mm blade, 127 mm long
- Fiber optic light guide
- Optional suction channel
Care for lit blades
Flush the suction channel after use, if fitted. Clean the optical ends with lens tissue only. After washing, let it dry on a rack before it goes back in the set.
