Description
Freeman Retractor Only Blades
The Freeman retractor blade lifts tissue in long, narrow pockets. This version has no light guide, so it suits rooms with good lighting.
Three blade sizes
We offer 13 x 180 mm, 12 x 200 mm and 25 x 200 mm. The narrow blades fit small incisions. Meanwhile, the 25 mm blade holds back more tissue.
When to choose the plain Freeman retractor blade
If you use a headlight, a lit blade may add little. Additionally, this plain blade costs less and weighs less. Therefore, many teams keep both styles.
Typical use
Plastic surgeons use it in breast and abdominal contouring. It also helps in deep axillary access. Usually the assistant holds it while the surgeon dissects.
Technique
Slide the blade along the roof of the pocket and lift gently. Keep the angle steady. Also, move the blade forward as the pocket deepens.
Matching lighted version
The same blade shape also comes with a fiber optic guide. Keep that version for deep or dim fields. Meanwhile, the plain blade covers routine work.
