Description
Flat Nose Plier With Longitudinal Groove
These longitudinal groove pliers have a groove running along the jaws. The groove holds a wire in line with the pliers, ideal for pulling or bending along its length.
Gripping in line
When a wire lies along the jaws, a flat surface can let it twist. Therefore a lengthwise groove keeps it centered. As a result, pulling and bending stay controlled.
Size
At 15 cm, the pliers are compact and easy to handle. Meanwhile, they still grip wire firmly. It suits hand and small fragment work.
Who uses longitudinal groove pliers
Hand surgeons pull and shape Kirschner wires. Also, trauma surgeons use them during wire removal. Scrub staff use them to straighten wires.
Pulling wires
Seat the wire in the groove and close the jaws. Then pull straight along the wire’s axis. A straight pull prevents bending.
Pairing patterns
Use this groove for in-line holding and the crosswise groove for right-angle holding. Consequently, the two complement each other. Many trays carry both.
Straightening wires
Bent wires sometimes need straightening before reuse on the back table. Therefore an in-line groove helps pull them straight. It also steadies wire during cutting.
