These endolaryngeal micro scissors cut vocal cord tissue in microlaryngoscopy. The surgeon guides them down a laryngoscope and operates under a microscope.

Scissors for microlaryngoscopy

Laryngeal microsurgery needs fine, precise cuts. Therefore, these scissors have a small 25 x 2 mm jaw on a long shaft. The surgeon can trim tissue while viewing it through the laryngoscope.

Five jaw orientations

Scissor jaws come Straight, or angled Upward, Downward, Right or Left. The straight version handles direct cuts. Meanwhile, the angled endolaryngeal micro scissors reach awkward spots on the cords.

Working with micro forceps

Surgeons usually hold tissue with micro forceps while they cut. So many sets include matching forceps and scissors. For example, the forceps grasp a lesion and the scissors release it.

Choosing orientations

Most surgeons start with the straight scissors, since direct cuts come up most. Then they add the left and right versions for side access. Also, the upward and downward versions help with lesions on the edges of the cords.

Caring for your micro scissors

Clean the fine jaw straight after surgery, because tissue dries quickly. Next, rinse the shaft and handle thoroughly. Then dry the endolaryngeal micro scissors and protect the tips during sterilization.
