Description
Iris Angular Scissors
Iris angular scissors set the blades at an angle to the handles. That angle helps you cut from the side while your hand stays clear. The pair measures 11.5cm and comes in three forms.
Why an angle helps
Straight scissors make you line up your hand with the cut. Angled ones, however, let you reach around a corner. So you can cut in a spot that a straight pair would block. You also keep a better view of the tips.
The three forms
We list three forms for this pair. Check the photos to compare them before you order.
- Figure 1: one of two angle patterns, shown in the images.
- Figure 2: the second angle pattern.
- One Blade Serrated: one blade has fine teeth to hold tissue.
Choosing a form
If tissue tends to slip, the serrated version helps. Otherwise, pick Figure 1 or Figure 2 based on the angle that suits your approach. If you are unsure, contact us and we will help you compare.
Typical uses
Angled iris scissors suit fine cuts around the eye and lids. They also help in other minor surgery that needs a side-on cut. Still, keep them for fine tissue rather than heavy work.
Care and storage
Rinse the blades after use and brush the joint. If you have the serrated form, brush along the teeth too. Then dry the pair fully. Finally, store it with a tip guard.
Angular scissors ordering
Angular pairs come non-sterile; once cleaned and sterilized, they serve repeatedly. Every angular form gets three years against manufacturing defects in our terms. Angular scissor steel meets ASTM F899. For more serrated options, see the curved serrated iris scissors. Browse our eye instrument line or the FAQ hub page.
